Charles' artistic ability was recognized at a young age by his family, friends, and educators.  His talent progressed into his teen and college years excelling in several mediums, e.g., pastels, oils, sculpture, and acrylics.  Today, Charles is renowned for his magnificent "realist" pastels, finely detailed and life-like.

In 1997, Charles completed his most prestigious piece, Honoring and Remembering.  This work was Charles' tribute to fallen comrades in the Vietnam War.  Some of the names on the wall include his cousin and his closest friend both killed in Vietnam.  Today this piece hangs in the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago, IL.

Honoring and Remembering

In 2000, the United States Post Office recognized Honoring and Remembering at the art museum and brought it to the attention of the nation by featuring it in a framed artwork.  Today, it can be purchased at select post offices throughout the United States.

Honoring and Remembering has been embraced by not only the public but also several leading politicians and community leaders, e.g., Chicago Police Superintendent Terry Hillard (left), Secretary of State Colin Powell, and United States Senator John McCain.
